It reminds me of the time we had to have a valve job in Cairo, and the garage wouldn’t take the car unless we removed everything from our VW camper- seats, rear view mirrors, anything that could be removed. So we took it up to our hotel room, load by load, through the lobby. I think the phrase Ugly American was coined about that time.
